Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2014
I notice it's been nearly a year since my last post! This is pretty disgraceful. I update my actual portfolio but less so this. I guess because I have no idea if anyone actually reads this, but ho hum.
My latest edition to this blog is the news that I have been selected to be in the Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2014 annual. Yay! I entered the competition in June (I think...?) I was informed that out of 700 entries, only 60 will be represented.
The brief was "Being Human", and below is my entry

Chum Salmon Run!
Last week I was lucky enough to go and visit the Natural History Museum Wildlife Photographer of the Year award exhibition. Obviously inspired by the photography on display, I set about creating some illustrations based on what I had seen. One such photograph was of a bear thrashing about in the water with a salmon in its mouth. This made me want to create my own little image based on the great salmon runs around the world, and the long journey many salmon make, only to wind up jumping into a giant bears terrifying jaws.

Back with a new post!
So it's been a fair while since I last updated here. Wow, 4 months in fact! There are a few reasons for that. Firstly, I'd just graduated so took a little break, then moved out to a place with no desk to really do my work on. Secondly, my PC was on a downward spiral so using it for drawing was a pretty pointless task, so having moved again to London, I now have a new PC that can handle running Illustrator and Photoshop without suffering a hernia. Yay!
So to celebrate, here is a new bit of work I've just finished. I'm hoping to maybe get some work done for adverts at some point, so am trying to make a few portfolio pieces for that. This is inspired by an advert I saw in a magazine, which was done using photography, for New York Bakery bagels.
It's good to be back :)
